Vision & Beliefs
The Vision of the College...
The vision of the College is to call Christians everywhere and the whole church to evangelism.
It seeks to understand and communicate the gospel in the contexts of the national churches affiliated with the College. It exists to explore and to teach the meaning and methods of evangelism and to train people from Australia, the Pacific Region and surrounding countries to be effective for the sake of the Kingdom of God. The College stands for responsible evangelism, presenting a gospel which at the same time is both personal and social. It believes in the necessity of conversion for all people and works for the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth. It pledges itself to the task of overcoming poverty, racism, war and spiritual oppression. It seeks to be faithful to Jesus as the Prince of Peace.
Uniqueness of this College
It is an independent College with 16 Christian denominations affiliated with it across the Pacific. No previous qualifications are required of students. It accepts ministers, and lay people from everywhere. Courses are designed to meet the off-shore training needs of developing nations in a residential, international, interdenominational context, as well as continuing education needs of ministers and lay people from churches in Australia and New Zealand.
All courses are designed to enable individual and faith communities to be effective and responsible in evangelism. The College offers culturally sensitive, faith inspiring, relevant learning that aims for excellence.
The Beliefs of the College...
The foundation of the Alan Walker College of Evangelism is faith in the Living God who is revealed, known and understood as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The College believes in Jesus Christ as the unique Son of God who lived, died and rose again that the whole world may be reconciled to God. It believes in the Holy Spirit who is God, guiding and comforting, challenging, empowering all who trust in Him and drawing them into fellowship thereby continually creating the Church as the Body of Christ which has local and universal expression.
All people are created for fellowship with God. Through rebellion against God sin has entered the world bringing about separation from God. God acted in Jesus Christ to end that separation and drew all people to Himself. All people are redeemable and can, through repentance and faith be restored to fellowship with God. Through the crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus, a new beginning is possible for all people and the whole creation.
The College believes in eternal life as a present reality and as a future gift, guaranteed by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Everything stands under the judgement and mercy of God. The God who began history will one day bring it to an end. Until that day all people live in a universe where the love and power of God constantly operate. The end of history will reveal the history of God, when all shall understand how much God has loved the World.
The faith of the college is based on the Bible as the revealed Work of God.
